What's It All About?
You are about to uncover four twisted tales of misadventure surrounding people connected, in some way, by the late Dr. Cyrus Stansfield's cloning machine. Within these stories you must face the ethical dilemmas and possible fortune while guiding each character to their own end.
The story takes place in the city of Starkham; the same location as One Way To Die and The Dope Game, and features recognizable places and characters spanning both games. Owners of previous games will get alternate story chunks unlocked as well.
In the proper fashion of text adventures, the player starts a story and navigates by making decisions at certain times to move forward. Each decision has a variety of outcomes and consequences, many of which have randomized elements to them. Before the start of each story, the player is given the opportunity to change various elements about the story, similar to Mad Libs. These changes will move forward with each story as the player progresses.
Four Stories In Episodic Release
The game comes with four stories which are released in episodic fashion:
The Addict follows the nephew of Dr. Stansfield, Marsch, after he gets out of rehab and inherits his uncle's mansion and lab. Will he fall back to old habits and ruin this opportunity or will he take advantage of it and finally improve his life while continuing the family legacy?
The Doctor reveals exactly what happened to Dr. Stansfield leading to his nephew taking over. How did he die? Did he even actually die at all?
The Neighbor follows a little girl, Madelyn, who stumbles into the lab after it has been condemned following the nephew's untimely mistakes. She also falls victim to the cloning machine and must not only clear her good name but stop her clone from doing further damage.
The Clone is about Aloysius, one of the clones who survives Marsch's failed experiment, who tries to make sense of everything that happened since then as well as unravel the mystery of Dr. Stansfield's death.
The game launches with story one, The Addict, with the additional stories to follow as episodic updates.
Stats, achievements? Oh my!
The game also keeps track of various statistics, both personal and global, such as decisions made, random events encountered, and wins/losses over games played. Progress on each story's branches is also kept so the player can use it to experience all the different outcomes for each one, if they choose.
There are also a total of twenty-five achievements broken up among the stories, five each, as well as five global ones.

Yeah, thankfully we got the Steam key thing sorted. As for release date, yes, we did! It was supposed to be today but due to staggered approval from Valve of the store, cards, and executables, plus some issues on our end, we missed it! Such is game development though. We are aiming for Monday or Tuesday (September 5th or 6th), pending finally approval from Valve.
Launch discount will be adjusted since we missed the launch date and has already pushed the game back a month. We are trying to think of an extra bonus for everyone as well. This game has had the most rocky development of any we have done and it is probably one of the most simple games!
I'm not sure. I talked to someone who has the game and they said the Steam key redemption button was there. Still talking to Itch.io about it. Might have something to do with the differences between purchases and download links though. Waiting on official response from them.

Haha, neither did I actually until I clicked on the wrong thing. It's all good though. As for the key, I'm not 100% sure how they are retrieved from Itch.io but since you own the game there should be something in your account to acquire the Steam key. Maybe check where it lists the games you have on Itch and there should be an option to redeem the key somehow. If not, I'd e-mail them to inquire.
what happend to the release? june 30th 2016 has gone and gone
Indeed it has! We have a super small staff and pushed it back to August 15th as the game was rebuilt in Godot. It is a sad state of affairs but true. It should coincide with the first big content update for The Dope Game.

Very welcome! Yeah, we aren't thrilled about it but the extra time definitely made it look better and we added in some good changes.

No, that's fine to inquire! At least we know people are still curious! The August 15th, much to our shame and dismay, is being moved to September 1st. Will we move it again, no? Why did we move it now? The process to get games for release on Steam takes some time. They have to vet the store page, then the builds. We don't think there is enough time to get that done by the 15th so we added some padding. We just got the cards and assets approved two days ago and the store page won't be approved until probably the 16th or 17th. Then the build has to be approved. Due to this process there is just no way we'll ever make that, sadly.
One the flipside... that gives us time to add more polish while we wait for approval, get all the hooks and assets in place for stories 2, 3, and 4 for episodic release, and get all the keys out to everyone so they are ready to roll (keys get posted tomorrow). Plus we can finally get this damn beta out for testing before launch on the 1st. We had to do two engine upgrades so that slowed the beta down a bit (compiling takes a long time).
In short, we share any frustration in the delays and the long process we have undergone. Even if you guys aren't frustrated with it, we are and will be relieved when we finally get it out. And then we can focus on getting each episode out on time. Which will be easy since all the heavy lifting is done! If you have any questions, let us know!
